BC Alpine announces J1 Development Program for 08
Four athletes from Big White are named to participate with Derek Trussler acting as the FIS zone coach. Good Job Sarah Elliot, Jen Meyers and Ian Deans who met all criteria. Curtis Koepke has also been named as an invitee for the first camp at Whistler.

Serwa named to 2010 Acceleration Team
Following wins in Giant Slalom on the Pontiac, GMC circuit, gold at Canada Winter Games and a Bronze at the Canadian National Championships (Jr), Kelsey Serwa has been named to ACA's women's national development team. One of 12 athletes selected from across Canada, Serwa must work very hard over the next six months as only 6-8 of the 12 will make the final cut. Read more from the BC Alpine website.

Big White Racers close season at Whistler Cup
THE SIERRA WIRELESS WHISTLER CUP is an international ski event organized by the Whistler Ski Club and hosted by Whistler-Blackcomb. Having completed its 14th year, Whistler Cup has grown to become the largest and most important ski race in North America, and internationally, for athletes aged 11 – 14 years. It is held under the auspice of FIS, the international governing body for alpine skiing. With over 390 young athletes from 21 countries, Whistler Cup brings together children from many different cultures, from around the world. With the 2010 Olympics fast approaching, Whistler Cup is the must-attend race for athletes and sponsors not only in the US and Canada, but around the world. For many of our young Canadian athletes, this is the first opportunity they have to meet and ski with the world’s best.

The future of international alpine ski racing will be on display in Whistler April 6 - 8 as hundreds of athletes from 20 countries, including 100 racers from British Columbia, will participate in the 15th annual Sierra Wireless Whistler Cup

Zone Final at Apex wraps up zone racing
The Zone Finals for K1, K2, J1 and Masters were held at Apex Mountain Resort, March 31-April 1. Racers skied a 2 run combined Slalom race on each day. The highlight on Sunday was retro day, where both the racers and parent volunteers got into the spirit of the day, and wore a variety of neon, pom poms, headbands and stretch pants. Congratulations to Hannah Vandenberg, who took home the prize for best dressed female racer.

Racing wound up today at Whistler for the Canadian Championships. Difficult weather posponed the speed events until this week. That did not deter Kelsey Serwa, however, from bringing home a bronze medal in the Junior catagory in Giant Slalom.

Kelsey Serwa finally kicked off her season as the top Canadian Junior with a 12th place finish today at Lake Louise. Joining her is fellow Big White Racer Evan Moore on the men's side who also worked very hard to lower his overall Downhill points with two results in the last two days.
